Why are our Values gone?

Why are our Values gone?

Filipinos are known all over the world for their good values. Do we still possess these good values? Maybe some will say YES but most will surely give a big NO!
Children are influenced by media especially the television. They deluged themselves much with “Telenovelas” and “Fantaseryes” and believe that they are “Superheroes” or “Kontrabidas” that can do everything they want in a society.
In effect, the school children now lose their regards to learning their respect to their teachers and parents are gone. Undesirable attitudes and behaviors are being displayed in and out of the classrooms. The use of unpleasant expressions are being uttered by most of the pupils both in the private and public schools. Crimes being committed everywhere and most of the suspects and victims are children.
This is a sad truth. What happens to Jose Rizal’s notion that the youth is the hope of the Fatherland? It’s a failure?
But each of us has a role to play in our society to uphold and protect all the necessary values, which are being influenced by the changing society, economically and politically.
It’s not too late, fellow Educators. Let’s join hands together to strengthen value education to our school children and encourage parents to follow them up at home, so that these children will realize that as best children they must be brave enough to uphold these good values and to prove to all that we the youth will still be the hope of our Fatherland.
